New Catalogue

These portraits are of our assistant Kristie who was one of Luke’s students and a talented photographer in her own right. She worked for whatever New Catalogue could afford to pay her including free lunches and coffee. She was moving to the west coast and we wanted to say goodbye with her own New Catalogue project. Both of us worked for the artist’s Robert Heinecken and Joyce Neimanas. At the New Catalogue studio we’ve done our best to recreate the values and mood of Robert and Joyce’s mentorship and incredible generosity. Their support for New Catalogue be it financial or personal made our first projects possible. The photographs were all taken on the Chicago Lakefront which is about a 15 minute bicycle ride from our studio. Whenever we photograph along the Lake we think of portraits and landscapes of Harry Callahan.
